Other Projects... Also in progress..

Steph had many many projects that she wanted to start and some finish while she was home. Like replace the mirror in the china cabinet that we bought on discount because of the broken mirror.

Here is the china cabinet with its old mirror out and the back panel off... She ended up finishing this project but still hasn't taken the final picture yet :)

Or replace the ceiling fan in the master bedroom..

and try to figure out a photo display above the master bed.. Still trying to figure out what black and white photos will be going in these frames or if thats going to be the final configuration.

Here is a nice little list of all her projects:
1. China cabinet.. Done (need final picture)
2. Replace master bedroom ceiling fan.. Done
3. Picture display over bed.. Semi Done
4. Repaint the living room wall.. Done (need picture)
5. Accessorized dining room.. Done (need picture)
6. Turned the guest bedroom into a gym... Done (need picture)
7. Reorganize living room with new stuff... Done (need picture)

As you can see from the list above Steph was super busy while we were home. Unfortunately she didn't take any pictures. We are hoping that when we get back home we will remember to take all those pictures. We still have a long way to go on the house but we keep moving closer and closer to "finishing" all our projects.

Furniture Projects.... in progress....

Steph had a lot of projects she wanted to get done while we were home this last trip. One of those "projects" included painting our existing dressers black to match our black slay bed. She wanted to make our furniture look like they belonged together instead of just a few random pieces. She didn't want to spend money on new dressers when the ones we had were in really good shape. It didn't make much sense to give away good furniture when the only problem was that they didn't match. To Home Depot we went for $20 worth of primer, paint, rollers and gloves. We went home and Steph started immediately on her new project within no time the 2 dressers looked completely different. She primed and painted the frame of both dressers first and then slowly worked on the draws. Toward the end of the project however, she ran out of steam. She still has 2 draws on both dressers to finish but that will have to wait until we get home again. We both were impressed with how they turned out even with the 4 unfinished draws they look fantastic and have really changed the look of the room.

Here is the large dresser before she painted it.
Primed...

First coat of black paint...

Here is the semi-final product, as you can see Steph still has 2 draws left to paint and in this picture she still has not put the cabinet door on or the hardware. She is having a
hard time finding knobs and draw pulls that she likes so that might take a while for her to complete the dresser. It looks great and will look fantastic once its finished.

Here is the other dresser that she painted. She forgot to take a before picture but here are the pictures from when she was painting.

Primed..

First coat of paint....

Almost done still need to paint those last 2 draws and touch up but it looks great so far!

New Year New Update!

After being home for a while and actually living in our house a few weeks we decided that a few things needed to be changed. Steph's sister moved to Florida and stored a few items at our house... more like we are borrowing them until she decides she wants them back. A TV stand and coffee table along with a few paintings. Her sister also painted us a rather large painting for our living room that we were finally able to hang. It has been very nice to be home and live in our home and make things feel the way we want. We have very much enjoyed every moment of our little "vacation".

Here is a great shot of the painting(s) that Tiffany created for our living room!

For Geoff's birthday Steph wanted to do something special for and decided it was finally time to take out the built in cabinet in his office. On Thanksgiving morning, as we were getting ready for the day, we decided it was time to start our little remodel project. It was a lot of fun. We dismantled the cabinet really fast and made sure not to make huge mess, so we took it apart in large pieces. After we had all of the cabinet pulled out of the room we had to get ready for Thanksgiving dinner with our families; project postponed for a bit. The next day Steph and her mom finished the job by painting and cleaning the room. Geoff got a new desk from Steph's parents that has really been a great help in organizing the room and making it feel a lot bigger. The office still isnt exactly what we want but we are getting close now. We reorganized all of Geoff's memorabilia and went through all of the random things we had stored (crammed) in the cabinet when we moved into the house. It took us about a week to finish all the cleaning, reorganizing and final touches to the office. We still have a few plans for this room but its slowly transforming into what we had envisioned when we bought the house.

Here you can see a beginning shot of the office. We have everything taken off the cabinet shelves in preparation for demolition!

The selves are now gone and we can begin the more major part of taking it apart.

This was actually a lot easier than we were both expecting the whole cabinet came apart in very large pieces and to our surprise the wall behind the cabinet was finished all it need was paint!

Shelves and upper cabinet part gone! Way easier than either of us were expecting! Yay!

We also bought a few fun toys at Home Depot like this awesome light you can strap to your head. It really came in handy :) Good call Geoff!

Steph decided the green that we originally painted in the office had to go. It was too dark for such a small room and there really was no point in putting any kind of color on the walls since Geoff had so many interesting pictures and memorabilia to hang. She didn't want color to distract from his ever growing collection.

All painted and clean! As you can see where the cabinet once was there is no tile so at some point we are definitely going to have to re-floor the office. We are leaning toward hardwood!

Here is a picture of a new shelf we got from Tiffany she is letting us once again borrow a few of her things until she is ready for them :) Thanks Tiff! Looks great with all his memorabilia doesn't it! :)

We haven't taken a good picture of the finished project yet but I am sure at some point we will. We are very happy that we took the built in cabinet out, it was taking up so much space. There are still so many things we are going to do in this room, new flooring is a must. We recently went to IKEA and found some great storage units that would be fantastic for displaying all of Geoff's collection! We can't wait to move forward toward our next office project!
